Start-up Investment Pitches at the trade fair „Quantum Effects“

On October 9th, 2024, the new event series “Start-up Investment Pitches” started at the “Quantum Effects” trade fair in Stuttgart with over 50 participants.

The event, developed by Photonics BW on behalf of Messe Stuttgart, was very well received by both start-ups and investors.

Dr. Andreas Ehrhardt (Managing Director, Photonics BW) welcomed the participants together with Dr. Alexander Heinrich (Head of Office, Quantum BW) and presented the Photonics BW innovation network as well as the numerous opportunities for public funding in Baden-Württemberg, as well as federal and European funding opportunities. The session was moderated by Andre Salzinger (Project Manager Quantum Technologies, Photonics BW).

A total of seven start-ups and six investors presented themselves. Well-known VC companies in the quantum technologies sector, such as Matterwave Ventures Management GmbH and Quantonation SAS, presented themselves and their portfolios. With the High Tech Gründerfonds Management GmbH and Plug and Play Germany GmbH, well-known and broad-based investors were represented. Eura AG presented both its innovation network and its investment department.

On the start-up side, Qruise GmbH, this year's winner of the Quantum Effects Award in the “Quantum Computing: Software and Algorithms” category, presented its software for machine learning and digital twins for manufacturing and complex laboratory setups in quantum technology. Delft Circuits BV from the Netherlands, guest country of Quantum Effects, presented essential components for cryogenic quantum computing platforms, directly integrated into flat superconducting cables.

Noisy Labs GmbH demonstrated the potential of highly stable lasers that can also generate squeezed light states, while Pixel Photonics GmbH specializes in photo diodes with extreme light yield. Quantum Brilliance GmbH presented its diamond-based quantum computing platform, which operates at room temperature.

Quant-X-Security & Coding GmbH and SBQuantum from Canada, winner of the Quantum Effects Award in the “Quantum Sensing” category for the analysis of magnetometry data from the ground, concluded the exhibition.
